7. a 8. dubna přivítáme na našem oddělení kolegu z Freie Universiteit Berlin PhDr. Martina Konvičku, který pronese přednášky na téma „Methodes van taalwetenschappelijk onderzoek“ („Metody lingvistického výzkumu“). Výzkum se zabývá konstrukcí „because x“ v různých jazycích za využití dat ze sociálních sítí. Dovolujeme si na cyklus přednášek pozvat zájemce z řad studentů i široké veřejnosti. Část přednášek bude proslovena v češtině, část v nizozemštině a angličtině (viz rozpis níže).

| Studying because X using Twitter data. This session focuses on the role of Twitter data in linguistics research. We are first going to discuss the ethics of using tweets (as well as data from other social platforms) in linguistic analyses. Furthermore, we are going to get familiar with TAGS and learn how to use it to collect our own data. PS: Having a Twitter account is not a pre-requisite. | |||||

| Diachrony of because X and (non-)ellipses. In this session, our focus will lie on the diachronic aspect of because X. We are going to investigate evidence against the idea that the construction is the result of external pressures such as social media and explore the role of ellipses in language change. | |||||
