Lucie Sedláčková studied English and Dutch Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. She completed her Ph.D. studies of Germanic literatures with a dissertation investigating the phenomenon of globalization in contemporary Dutch and Flemish fiction. She teaches Dutch and Flemish literature, literary theory, literary translation, the culture of Dutch speaking areas, and occasionally Dutch language courses. She has been the head of the Department of Dutch Studies since 2015. Her research focuses mainly on the following areas: the representation of globalization in literature; cultural transfer between the Netherlands and the Czech Republic (circulation of Dutch theatre in the Czech lands, intercultural authors); the representation of animals, vegetarianism, and ecology in literature. From 2012 to 2015, she participated in the international research project, “The Circulation of Dutch Literature”. Since 2018, she has been actively involved in the KREAS project, specifically in the Strategic Regions programme.
