Graduate’s profile

Bachelor’s programme graduate

Graduates have competence in Dutch equivalent to the B2 level of the CEFR. They are also well-grounded in the literature, culture, life and institutions, and history of the Dutch language area, possessing general theoretical knowledge, which allows them to pursue a master’s degree here or at another Czech university. Graduates also have competence in English equivalent to the B2 level of the CEFR.

The graduate’s  employment:

The bachelor’s degree is a prerequisite for various careers, i.e.:

  • in cultural institutions
  • in the media
  • as a representative of Dutch and Belgian companies
  • in translation

Master’s programme graduates

Graduates have a high-level command of the Dutch language (equivalent to the C1-C2 level of the CEFR) spoken and written. They are capable of using technical, academic Dutch as well as effectively communicating in both work and official environments, and writing complex Dutch texts, having acquired the skills necessary to produce technical texts on the Dutch language and Dutch literature. The graduates have a deep and thorough knowledge of the Dutch and Flemish cultural environment. Furthermore, they are well-versed in the methods of translation from and into Dutch, including specific aspects of technical and literary translation.

The master’s degree is a prerequisite for various careers, i.e.:

  • in cultural institutions
  • in the media
  • in translation
  • in teaching
  • in diplomacy, state administration and international organizations
  • in academic research
